Pretentious
Notes

Distant Spirit

As I walk through the falling rain,
Thinking of all my failures and mistakes,
Somewhere deep inside of me, I search
for something good I must have done.

Yes, I remember the times I spent with you,
The fun we had, the love we shared.
I remember the warmth that flowed between us,
the way your kiss lifted my spirit.

And with those memories come the mistakes,
The one foolish mistake I blindly made,
Through my pleas for forgiveness,
My misfortune still embowers.

Now the love seems gone,
The warmth turned to bitter cold memories,
I guess I’ll never see you, or feel your kiss again,
Through another of my resentful mistakes.

Of course, its no longer me walking through the rain
from your house,
But my spirit, constantly walking from your heart,
Following your shadow crying its woes of sorrow and hurt.
